about

It's odd to be handling Failure Face business in 2020, almost exactly 24 years after our break up but here we are!

Failure Face was active from 1993 to 1996 and in that time I think there were two attempts to record us live. Two that I know of, at least.

Someone handed us a tape of our 1994 show in Boston, right after we got off the stage. I have no idea who recorded it, but we listened to it in the van and I never heard it again.

In July 1996, when we knew we only had about a month left, we made a serious attempt to record one of our last shows with fancy mics on everything and a vintage reel to reel. The recording came out so bad that I personally destroyed it.

In 2003, we played a reunion show that was recorded with a single microphone hanging from the ceiling. That recording actually sounds pretty good and can be heard on the Failure Face "Complete Failure" CD that I released on Burrito Records later that year.

We figured that was the end of the Failure Face story but in 2012, Paul at Give Praise Records wanted to give our discography the vinyl treatment and we played two more reunion shows to celebrate.

Somebody videoed the second gig, at Churchill's Pub in Miami. And with modern technology, we were able to turn the video into this album. I tried reaching out to the person who made the video but got no response. In any case, this live recording is the last moments of Failure Face.

OR IS IT?
